Honey I thought I packed that? Oops…maybe you did, but someone with sticky fingers got hold of your precious belongings before it made it to the plane. Seems that Douglas Wayne DeWeese, 55, of Damascus, Maryland, had sticky fingers. A former TSA agent, DeWeese just couldn’t help himself when it came to removing items (he must have deemed others didn’t need) from passenger luggage.
Of course every choice has a consequence! DeWeese was sentenced to 10 months in prison for theft of property in interstate commerce, along with two years of supervised release and restitution.
DeWeese pleaded guilty on Aug. 20, 2015. According to court documents, from 2008 through 2012, DeWeese was employed by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) as a Transportation Security Officer responsible for inspecting checked bags at Washington-Dulles International Airport. While on duty, DeWeese stole items and valuables from passengers’ luggage, including electronics, jewelry and currency. The defendant transported the stolen items from the airport to his home in Maryland. DeWeese is no longer a TSA employee. You think!
Dougy “D” aka “Sticky Fingers” will now find that his choices have created a life long series of consequences that won’t be so easy. I guess since he stole electronics (which soon will be obsolete), jewelry (that he can’t wear in prison), we should hope that he found a boat load of cash being shipped in from ISIS so that his efforts will have had some redeeming value. Otherwise, he’s just a dumb crook!
And that’s all I’ve got to say about that!
